Syracuse football player Johntay Cook II joined Darrell Gill Jr. at Ole Miss (report)

Syracuse, NY – Former Syracuse wide receiver Johntay Cook II has transferred to Mississippi, according to the On the 3.

Cook joins fellow former Orange wide receiver Darrell Gill Jr. at Oxford after the season ranked last in the ACC. In one season with the Orange, he had 549 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Cook, once a top-30 recruit in the country, transferred to Syracuse after two years in Texas and about a week in Washington. After being arrested in the offseason and returning to his home in DeSoto, Texas, Cook transferred to Syracuse.

Syracuse and Cook parted ways after failing to agree on a contract after the 2025 season.

Now, Ole Miss will be getting two of Syracuse’s leading receivers starting in 2025 as the Rebels try to build on their best season in program history.

Syracuse is losing its top seven receivers from last season. Freshman wide receiver Darien Williams, who had 101 yards and one touchdown, will be the Orange’s leading returning receiver from 2025.

The Orange worked in the offseason to replace his lost production. Syracuse added three wide receivers in the transfer window and had two blue-chip wide receivers in its freshman class.

Players have until 23:59 on Friday to enter their names on the transfer portal.
