The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM for the Bronx County at 4:37 PM Sunday.
“Light freezing rain or freezing drizzle expected. Total ice accumulation around a light glaze,” the weather service says. “Surface temperatures are expected to rise above freezing late tonight, allowing the precipitation to change to normal rain.”
“Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are possible,” the weather service adds. “Slow down and be careful when traveling. Check your local Department of Transportation’s information services for current road conditions.”

If you get stuck, keep calm. Inform someone about your situation and location. Avoid trying to walk to safety. Attach a cloth to your car’s antenna or mirror to signal that you need help. Make your vehicle visible with a dome light and blinkers.

Watch out for snow plows and give them plenty of room. Only overtake the plow when you have a clear view of the road ahead.
