Fraser McReight has been confirmed as Queensland Reds captain for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific campaign, replacing defender Tate McDermott and the outgoing Liam Wright in coach Les Kiss’s final season before taking the national reins.
Outstanding flanker McReight has been lauded as a long-term candidate to captain the Wallabies.

“This role is a huge honor for me, all the more so as I’m following some great mates and leaders into the role, having seen Tate and Liam do a great job,” said McReight, who became the Wallabies’ 91st captain during the Rugby Championship clash with South Africa.
“They’ve shown me the way over the last four seasons and hopefully I’ll now land on my journey as captain with everything I’ve learned about myself as a person and as a player.”
