The iconic boyband of the 90’s, Backstreet Boys, publicly expressed their desire to sing at the halftime show of the LXI edition of the Super Bowl, which will take place in February 2027.
The announcement occurred during a concert by the band at the Sphere in Las Vegas, when one of its members AJ McLean stopped the concert and asked the audience the question: “What do you think? Backstreet Boys 2027 Super Bowl Halftime.”
The attendees reacted immediately and euphorically with shouts, applause and ovations, showing their support for the group’s idea of being the protagonists of the halftime of the most important sports festival in the United States.

BSB reaffirmed the idea through social networks where AJ himself asked fans for support so that the NFL would take them into account for the following year, a situation that made the topic trendy and increased support for the group.
The possibility transcended in a relevant way, so much so that some fans created a petition on Change.org that seeks to pressure the NFL to choose BSB as the protagonists of Super Bowl LXI, arguing that the group has a record of more than 100 million albums sold and in 2027 they will celebrate 30 years of their career.
Likewise, they argued that the BSB have never led a half-time; However, they were at a Super Bowl in 2002, where they sang the United States national anthem.

Other points that could be in favor of the band to be chosen for the halftime show is that their main audience is people between 30 and 45 years old, the same generation that is interested in NFL games; a widely known repertoire of songs and great experience in massive shows around the world; Additionally, BSB participated in advertising for the Super Bowl recently.
So far the NFL has not announced which artist or artists will participate in the next edition but the names of Miley Cyrus, Cardi B and Taylor Swift sound strong on the shortlist.
