AHRESP wants quick support for all companies, not just in the affected areas

The Portuguese Hotel, Restaurant and Similar Association (AHRESP) asks that support “arrive quickly” to companies affected by the storms in Portugal “and are not restricted to those located in the municipalities directly affected.

In a statement released this Sunday, February 8, the association claims to maintain “a continuous dialogue with the Government” to convey “in detail the dramatic reality” of the sector and, even while recognizing “the relevance of the measures already announced”, he asks that the support “reach, quickly, the companies that depend on it”.

“On the other hand, support must cover all affected companies, regardless of whether or not they are in municipalities formally declared to be in a state of calamity, since the effects of the destruction take on a truly national scale”, argues AHRESP. The association also wants to ensure that support also reaches individual entrepreneurs, with or without organized accounting, “thus avoiding unjustified inequalities at such a critical time”.

“Aid must reach everyone without exception, because damage, losses and suffering spread throughout the territory”, states the organization, which launched an incident reporting questionnaire for its associatesto identify damages and urgent needs and justify measures with the competent authorities, adjusted to each territory. The Government extended the calamity situation until the 15th for 68 municipalities and announced support measures of up to 2.5 billion euros.
