Ivorian midfielder Seko Fofana is a reinforcement for FC Porto on loan from Rennes, France, until the end of the season.
The dragons informed, in a note on their official website, that the agreement does not include a purchase option at the end of the transfer and that the operation took place without intermediation costs.
The 30-year-old player arrives at the Dragons after having played 12 games for Rennes this season, seven of them as a starter.
Capped by Ivory Coast on 31 occasions, Fofana completed his training at Manchester City and, at senior level, spent time in England (Fulham), France (Bastia, Lens and Rennes), Italy (Udinese) and Saudi Arabia (Al Nassr and Al Ettifaq).
At Lens, he had the most notable period of his career, having starred in the club’s campaign in 2022/23, a season in which he finished in second place in the French championship, just one point behind champions PSG.
His good performances earned him a move into Saudi football, firstly for Al Nassr, where he was teammates with Portuguese internationals Cristiano Ronaldo and Otávio, and then for Al Ettifaq.
Returning to European football this season, playing for Rennes, the Ivorian was unable to get regular playing time, having suffered a period of injury and taking part in the African Cup of Nations (CAN2025).
On the closing day of the transfer market, FC Porto secured the fourth ‘winter’ reinforcement, after Thiago Silva, Oskar Pietuszewski and Terem Moffi, gaining an alternative to Victor Froholdt in midfield.
