US begins military ‘readiness’ exercise in Middle East — RT World News

President Donald Trump Warns: ‘There’s Another Beautiful Army Sailing Towards Iran Right Now’

The United States has begun large-scale, multi-day military exercises across the Middle East. The drills coincide with President Donald Trump’s announcement of another naval deployment, escalating the tense standoff with Tehran.

US Air Force Center (AFCENT) established on tuesday that “preparedness exercise” it is designed to demonstrate the rapid deployment and sustainment of combat aircraft. The aim of the operation is said to be to verify procedures for dispersing personnel and jets to different “emergency locations” and command integration with unnamed “partner nations”.

“It’s about honoring our commitment to maintaining combat-ready airmen and the disciplined execution needed to keep airpower available when and where it’s needed,” said AFCENT Commander Lt. Gen. Derek France.

Air exercises complement the major naval build-up. US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, accompanied by guided-missile destroyers, entered the region earlier this week.

In addition, the US has moved additional F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets, Patriot missile batteries and THAAD air defense systems to the Middle East.

“There is another beautiful army that is sailing beautifully towards Iran right now,” Trump said during a speech on Tuesday, adding that he hoped Tehran would do so “to agree.” He previously claimed that the naval forces near Iran were larger than those used in the Venezuelan operation.

The military moves follow weeks of extreme tension, during which Trump reportedly came close to ordering strikes “punished” Tehran for suppressing violent anti-government protests. While the US president has yet to make a final decision, an unnamed Gulf official told Middle East Eye that Washington is considering precision strikes against Iranian officials and military commanders.

Iran responded with a defiant warning against “any miscalculations.” Government spokesman Fatemeh Mohajerani said Tehran is “fully prepared” for any potential war, emphasizing that any US attack would provoke a “quick and comprehensive” response. This echoes previous warnings from Iran’s military commanders that their forces have their own “trigger finger.”

The crisis stems from widespread anti-government protests in Iran sparked by an economic collapse that officials say has left about 3,000 dead. Tehran accuses the US and Israel of fomenting the unrest to justify military intervention.
