Former Syracuse football wide receiver Darrell Gill Jr. is transferring to an SEC school

Syracuse, NY — Former Syracuse football wide receiver Darrell Gil Jr. signed with the University of Mississippi from the transfer portal.

On3 was the first to report Gill Jr.’s move on Wednesday night. to Ole Miss.

Gill finished third on the Orange last year with 32 catches and second with 506 yards.

He scored five touchdowns and was highlighted on ESPN’s “You Got Mossed” segment after an impressive catch against Colgate.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Gill has one year of eligibility remaining.

Gill was SU’s highest-ranked player in On3’s rankings as the 22nd-best wide receiver and 103rd-best player overall.

Only three players took more snaps on offense for the Orange than Gill’s 558 last season. They were departing seniors Da’metrius Weatherspoon and Villari along with returning offensive guard Joe Cruz.

The Syracuse football wide receiver room saw a lot of turnover in the offseason.

Gill is one of several wide receivers to leave Syracuse for the portal, along with Nick Armentan, Johntay Cook, Gab Daniels, Jaylan Hornsby, Emanuel Ross and Ja’Meer Thomas.

SU signed Matt Outten (Penn State), Elijah Moore (Florida State) and Cole Weaver (Miami of Ohio) from Portal.

The Orange also add coveted rookie Calvin Russell and Amare Gough to their receiver group and will benefit from having a healthy Darius Johnson.

Players have until Friday to enter the transfer portal and can apply to the program at any time.
