INDIANAPOLIS – With two weeks to go before the playoffs, the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Committee has announced its top 10 teams.
Cornell entered as the top team in the committee’s rankings using results from games played on April 18. Cornell (10-1) has won its last six games and finished four inside the top 15 in the RPI, highlighted by a win over conference rival Princeton.
Maryland (10-2), last season’s national runner-up, is in second place. The Terrapins are 4-0 against teams with a top-10 RPI, the best mark in the nation. Princeton (9-2) is the third-ranked and second-ranked Ivy League team. The Tigers are ranked No. 1 in the RPI and boast the nation’s toughest schedule.
Penn State (9-3) rounds out the top four. The Nittany Lions are the only team to beat Cornell and have five wins in the top 20 in the RPI.
The next three teams are North Carolina (9-2), Harvard (9-2) and Army West Point (10-1), which match their current RPI standings.
Ohio State (11-2), Syracuse (9-3) and Notre Dame (6-3) round out the top 10.
The 2025 championship will be announced Sunday, May 4 at 9:30 PM ET on ESPNU.
The tournament begins on Wednesday, May 7 with the opening round matches. In the first round of the tournament, the championship will be played on campus, while the quarterfinals will be played between Hofstra and Navy. The semifinals and championship games will be played on May 24 and 26 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
