The director of US National Counterterrorism Center resigned this Tuesday in protest of the war against Iran. Noting that this began due to “pressure” from Israel and a “disinformation campaign.”

“I cannot, in good conscience, support the ongoing war in Iran“said the senior official in his resignation letter addressed to President Donald Trump.
“Iran did not pose an imminent threat against our nation, and it is clear that we started this war because of pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” the letter added.
In June 2025, Trump ordered the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities. An operation that had the collaboration of Israel and that caused a military escalation that lasted twelve days.
Trump assured on that occasion that Iranian nuclear capabilities had been “annihilated,” and invited the Tehran regime to negotiatewhich did not lead to a peaceful solution.
The Republican president ordered a new wave of attacks, in new coordination with the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, on February 28. The current campaign has provoked Iranian attacks against a good part of the region’s neighbors, and the almost total blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Conflict in the Middle East
Some conservative politicians and commentators believe that Trump has violated his promises not to open new war fronts.
