Syracuse, NY – Kennesaw State transfer point guard Amari Odom will visit Syracuse this weekend, according to a report from 247Sports’ Chris Hummer.
Hummer reported that Odom is also scheduled to visit Missouri, which is looking to replace starter Beau Pribula.
Last season with the Owls, Odom threw for 2,594 yards and helped his team win the Conference USA championship game. A dual-threat option, he also carried the ball 120 times for 347 yards and seven touchdowns.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Odom began his career at Wofford. He transferred to Kennesaw State last year. He has two years of college left.
Odom ranked third in Conference USA in passing yards, and Pro Football Focus gave him the third-best offensive rating among quarterbacks in the league. He was named to the league’s all-conference first team.
Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli, who has two years of eligibility remaining but is sidelined with a torn Achilles tendon, is expected to return.
Syracuse coach Fran Brown expressed optimism that Angeli will be healthy enough to participate in spring practices and play quarterback this coming season.
In addition to competing with the Angels, Syracuse must add depth after a season of unsuccessful backup options. Brown said he plans to bring at least two defenders through the transfer window.
