Meta announces agreement with media outlets to integrate news into Meta AI in Europe

Meta announced a partnership with several international media outlets, including the Spanish group Prisa, to include news and content in the Meta AI Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant in Europe.

The company, owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhastApp, intends to expand the range of content in applications and devices that include Meta AI with news, reports and entertainment.

“The long-term objective is to offer options for all audiences, continually incorporating new sources of content and themes”, explained the company in a statement published on the website.

The collaboration spans media outlets and media groups such as Prisa, News Corp, Le Figaro and Süddeutsche Zeitung.

However, Meta assured that more media outlets will join and “explore new features to improve user experience.”

With this alliance, Meta intends to expand the variety of content it offers to users, at the same time that the media obtain a new way to increase the traffic of published news.

“Real-time events can pose a challenge to current AI systems, but by integrating more news and different sources, the goal is to improve Meta AI’s ability to offer up-to-date and relevant content and information, with a wide variety of points of view and content types,” the company said.

This way, when users search for news on Meta AI, the assistant will offer them information and ‘links’ from associated media, based on timeliness and relevance, in addition to adapting to each user’s interests.

In December, the technology company had already announced collaborations with several media outlets, such as CNN, Fox News and Le Monde, USA Today, People, The Daily Caller, Washington Examiner and Le Monde, as allies in this strategy.
