Henrique Rocha loses Santiago Challenger final against Olivieri

The Portuguese tennis player Henrique Rocha was defeated in the final of the Challenger in Santiago, Chile, by Argentine Genaro Alberto Olivieri, in straight setsby partials of 6-4 and 6-4. The match, which lasted one hour and 52 minutes, pitted two players outside the top 150 face to face, but who had a balanced match with a good competitive level.

Rocha, currently ranked 169th in the world, reached the final after a series of nine consecutive victories and after having won the title at the Brasília Challenger the previous week. However, he ended up feeling the accumulated wear and tear of two intense weeks of competition, which made it difficult to win another trophy.

At the end of the match, the 21-year-old Portuguese young man recognized the effort made throughout the match and admitted that fatigue had an impact on his performance. Even so, he highlighted how he managed to remain competitive at various moments of the game and fight even when the result became more difficult to reverse. Rocha also recognized the merit of the Argentine opponent, highlighting that Olivieri was solid and prepared to take advantage of the opportunities.

Despite the defeat, the Chilean tournament confirmed the Portuguese tennis player’s good form. This was the sixth final of Rocha’s career on the ATP Challenger Tour circuit. The results achieved in recent weeks will have a positive impact on the world rankings. With the presence in the final in Santiago and the victory in Brasília, Henrique Rocha is expected to reach the best ranking of his career, virtually securing 131st place in the ATP hierarchy.

After the campaign in Chile, the Portuguese tennis player now heads to Paraguay, where he will compete in the Assunção Challenger. Rocha stated that the objective is to continue evolving and maintain the level presented in recent weeks, at a stage in which he seeks to consolidate his position on the professional circuit.
