Israel announced this Saturday that the war it has been ongoing for two weeks against Iran together with the United States is entering “a decisive phase that will continue as long as necessary”.
“We are entering the decisive phase of the conflict, between the regime’s attempts [iraniano] to survive, while at the same time inflicting increasing suffering on the Iranian people, and their capitulation”, said the Israeli Defense Minister.
Israel Katz reiterated in a message cited by the French agency AFP that “only the Iranian people” can put an end to the situation “through a determined struggle” until the regime “is overthrown and Iran is saved”.
The minister thus resumed the numerous calls for the Iranian people to rise up launched in recent days by Israel, after thousands of Iranians were killed in demonstrations in January.
Israel considers Iran to be one of its worst enemies because the Islamic Republic regime established in 1979 advocates the destruction of the country.
Israeli officials have insisted that the war will last as long as necessary until Tehran’s theocratic regime is deposed, although he insists on calls for uprising by the Iranian people.
Iranian authorities have declared in recent days that they will not tolerate any protests, threatening that they will consider them as hostile acts against the Islamic Republic, meaning they will receive the same treatment as enemies in war.
Unlike Israel, US President Donald Trump has varied predictions about the duration of the war between a few weeks and the recent “it’s almost over”, especially since the consequences of the conflict on oil prices.
Katz also congratulated Trump on the “tough blow that the US army dealt yesterday [sexta-feira] at night on the Iranian oil island of Kharg, bombed by US aviation.
“It is the appropriate response to the minefields in the Strait of Hormuz and the blackmail attempts by the Iranian terrorist regime,” he said.
Katz said the Israeli air force was also continuing “a wave of powerful strikes against Tehran and all of Iran.”
He further accused Iran of indulging “in regional and global terrorism, as well as blackmail to dissuade Israel and the United States from continuing their campaign.”
The United States and Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Iran exactly two weeks ago, which responded with attacks against neighboring countries.
The war, which has already caused more than two thousand deaths, mostly Iranians, also caused a crisis in the oil markets, with the price of a barrel of crude surpassing the psychological barrier of 100 dollars.
