Third shipment with humanitarian aid from Mexico arrives in Cuba

CUBA.- This Friday, the logistical support ships of the Mexican Navy Papaloapan and Huasteco They docked again in the bay of Havana with a third shipment of humanitarian aid for Cuba.

Both vessels had arrived at the Caribbean island on February 28 with a second shipment of humanitarian aid containing 1,200 tons of food, sent to alleviate the country’s crisis, aggravated by the United States oil siege.

“Two ships now arriving at the port of Havana with a third shipment of aid from the Mexican Government and people for the people of Cuba. Thank you Mexico for your solidarity with Cuba,” wrote the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal, on social networks.

In the second load of humanitarian aid, the Papaloapan carried 1,078 tons of beans and powdered milk, while the Huasteco transported 92 tons of beans, in addition to 23 tons of various foods, which were collected by various social organizations with support from the Government of Mexico City.

Mexico is the country that has sent the most aid to Cuba in recent months with a total of about 2 thousand tonsmostly basic foods and hygiene productsbetween the two shipments prior to this Friday’s. The first of them brought 814 tons of food to the island.

Hours before the arrival, the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canelhighlighted the role of Mexico in a television appearance, and described it as a “friendly and brother country that has shown tremendous height,” especially its president, Claudia Sheinbaum.

Furthermore, he referred to the information that indicated that the donations from Mexico to the island They were being resold in state establishments and he called them a “poisoning campaign” by “right-wing forces.”
