Spotlite leads consortium for monitoring bridges in Brazil with contract worth 8 million

Portuguese technology company Spotlite announced its participation in a consortium that won a contract with Brazil’s DNIT (National Department of Transport Infrastructure), valued at around eight million, for satellite monitoring of 5,300 bridges throughout Brazilian territory.

The agreement provides that more than 100 DNIT engineers will have access to real-time data on the status of these infrastructures, allowing maintenance decisions and scheduled interventions.

The consortium also includes the companies SISCON and Única and focuses on the analysis of satellite images and artificial intelligence to detect structural deformations, ground movements and other risks without the need for permanent physical inspections. The solution is intended to speed up response to claims and optimize maintenance costs through predictive maintenance and remote audits.

In Portugal, Spotlite already provides services to public and private entities and was recently involved in supporting operations during the February storms.

“The solution we created allows all critical infrastructure managers to monitor, in real time, millimetric changes in them”, said Ricardo Cabral, CEO of Spotlite.

The technology company, founded in Coimbra by Ricardo Cabral and Martino Correia, integrates multiple satellite sources into an Earth observation platform designed to transform images into automated alerts and operational information.

The growth in demand for this type of services reinforces Spotlite’s international strategy, which aimed to expand to Europe, the United States and South America.

It is worth remembering that, in December last year, Spotlite concluded a seed round of 3.5 million euros, led by Indico Capital Partners and Explorer Investments, with participation from Portugal Ventures and EDP Ventures, financing that the company says will be used to accelerate expansion and reinforce its technological capabilities.
