Navy reopens disciplinary proceedings against NRP Mondego military personnel after sanctions are lifted

The Navy reopened disciplinary proceedings against soldiers who refused to board the Ship of the Portuguese Republic (NRP) Mondego in 2023, after the Supreme Administrative Court considered the sanctions applied by the branch to be unlawful.

The reopening, announced this Friday, March 13, by the newspaper Público, was confirmed to Lusa by the Armada spokesperson.

“The Navy is proceeding with the reinstruction of the single disciplinary process, remedying the defects highlighted by the South Central Administrative Court and the Supreme Administrative Court, in order to determine, in full respect of the legal norms judged violated, whether disciplinary infractions were committed, a material issue on which there was no judicial ruling”replied the branch.
