LaJoven is plotting his sweet spot with ‘Invisible,’ a theatrical adaptation of Eloy Moreno’s best-selling novel

With over a thousand copies sold and the Disney series, Invisibleby Eloy Moreno, es sin duda uis not among the most popular books for young people in recent years. Also one of the most necessary, given the sad increase in housing in our classrooms.

If in the author’s novel, his characters had imagination, imagination and superpowers to face the mistreatment of other companions, in this new proposal, LaJoven, directed by José Luis Arellano and edited by Josep Maria Miróevoke the power of scenes.

El bullying From this point on, it was a great example of this theater company coming from other adaptations such as A monster comes to the worm or El señor de las moscas. “It’s a topic that we didn’t pay much attention to, or at least not so centrally – the director acknowledges -. Eloy approaches it through literature. It’s not a documentary story, it’s using words that come with words to tell a collective story, and that’s what appeals to us.”

Miró’s version, completely faithful to the novel, limps to a hospital where a young man is recovering from the sequel to a mysterious “accident” in which he seems to be the starting point of a school story. Moreno’s novel tells about violence in the classroom, but also in life and society. “When violence starts, you don’t know much better, but it’s very difficult to stop it.”

In the case of “it’s an assumption that probably has more impact today because we named it.” This is where the intrusion of social gangs into the surrounding youngsters ends. “It’s worrying because now you don’t have to do anything “just” in the classroom once you’re at homewhere he continues to look around the Internet,” the director thinks, before commenting on another sad fact.

“We are not a social entity, not even a theatrical one. Use art to count things.” Jose Luis Arellano

“El bullying It goes from childhood, from teenagers to children in elementary school. This is something we should be thinking about what we are doing as a society because the people who are involved in this violence are young. There is no peace, no value, no terror, but you have to think about it What responsibility do we have when this child engages in violence as the only response? en la vida”.

LaJoven part of it all, without embargo, gives a distinct price. “We are not a social entity, we are a theater company with which we calculate things through art. Invisible It is a story and as such is much more exemplarybecause it uses fantastical elements to evoke reality”.

Dragons and young avispa gifted with great speed are the background to “a far more terrible existence, which is the idea of becoming invisible, they have superpowers to play against amenazasArellano disappoints.

Moreno’s text also follows the script in all its crudeness. A few words that their actors wanted to meet. Composed by Juan Acedo, Javi Morán, Marcos Pérez and Iballa Rodríguez – as well as the special collaboration of Mabel del Pozo – it is a very young department to which this period of life returns enough to search.

“Being so alive helps them through the process. They can prevent it and what happens so often is that trying to save their characters. They live it with the frustration of wanting to do something, wanting to be a hero and not having any power.”

We return to the classrooms and the battlefield, but with a very clear scenic view. “One of the many good things that holds the story and especially the work together is that Although we are dealing with terrible subjects, the characters have a lot of light. Have no derrota en ellos. There are moments in which life becomes very difficult and very complete, but there is no diminishment, there is a lot of life”.

This way it José Luis Raymond and Laura Ordás – scenography and costumes– planned the universe Invisible in a very imaginative way. “There are a lot of special effects and videos to create this realm of imagination – Álvaro Luna,” explains the director.

Produced by Fundación Teatro Joven y el malagueño Teatro del Soho CaixaBank, where it was released last March 6 and 7, Invisible an extensive tour begins at the Teatro de La Abadía de Madrid -from March 13 to April 5-, which will take you to cities such as Cádiz, Seville, Las Palmas or Salamanca, among others.
