Oeiras International School expands campus and reinforces secondary education

“Something unusual and which demonstrates our commitment to truly personalized learning, allowing each student to build a path aligned with their interests and future goals”, reaffirms the director of the institution. “This set of factors, non-profit model, small classes, strong community culture and a very comprehensive academic offer, contributes to a demanding educational experience, but at the same time close and centered on the student and their personal development”, highlights.

“This commitment to quality has been recognized internationally, with OIS being considered one of the 10 best schools in Europe and among the 100 best in the world in rankings of international schools”, continues the director. He also guarantees that the fact that tuition fees are used to reinvest in the school is important for most families who choose the institution.

For the new campus, the objectives are ambitious. Tomalin wants students closer to the professional reality that awaits them in their higher education years, and guarantees that this is what will differentiate OIS.

“The new campus was designed specifically for students from Years 10 to 13, creating an environment that is closer to an international secondary education experience and preparation for university and/or the professional world. The objective is to reinforce the Diploma Program (DP) experience, offering more autonomy to students, as well as spaces dedicated to science, music, arts and technology, in a context that encourages critical thinking, research and personal development”, explains Tomalin. “The location of the new campus reflects this phase of the academic journey. While the Quinta Campus, located in the valley in Barcarena, offers a more protected and welcoming environment, ideal for younger students, the new campus is at the top of the hill, with an open view of the horizon”, he continues.

“This perspective symbolizes the moment when students begin to look more clearly at the future, at universities, at the world and at the choices they will make, encouraging them to build their own path, in line with the spirit that defines OIS: Shape Your Own Trail. At the same time, the model maintains the characteristics that define the school, such as small classes, close monitoring of students and a strong connection to the communityensuring that, even in this more independent phase of the academic journey, each student continues to be supported in a close and personalized way”.

At OIS, classes have between 16 and 18 students in the various years of learning, and this proximity is to be maintained, guarantees the director, who leaves, at the end of the conversation with DN, an invitation: “Nothing replaces getting to know our school up close. The best way to understand what OIS is is to visit it, which is why our doors are always open to anyone who wants to get to know our community and our campuses. Families interested in getting to know us better are always welcome to visit the campuses and discover our community. educational.”
