AIMA accelerates sending of renewed cards

The Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) has started to accelerate the sending of residence permits renewed through the Mission Structure in the second half of 2025. An agency source told DN Brazil what, in recent weeks, around 20,000 documents were issued at the Casa da Moeda.

The number is the result of an effort to analyze renewals to speed up sending. Thus, thousands of documents have arrived at immigrants’ homes or are in the process of being sent, so people waiting “should be alert”.

The same source highlights that at less than 50% of all cards have already been sent. This effort will continue this month and also in the first half of April, because AIMA is also paying attention to the date of April 15th, when most renewal vouchers lose their validity.

Another fact is that, of the 10 thousand residence permits returned, many have already been withdrawn, leaving around 1,800 documents available at the AIMA store in Anjos. The place even has its doors open on Saturdays to facilitate delivery to immigrants.

Regarding rejections, notifications will soon be sent to those who had their request initially rejected. This is also a result of the acceleration in the analysis of processes in recent weeks.

The delay in sending renewed cards is a criticism that has occurred since the beginning of the operation. The legal deadline is 60 days, but it is often disrespected by AIMAdue to the high number of documents.

Furthermore, there are several situations where immigrants are harmed by delays and non-recognition of the renewal receipt. Government entities such as the Mobility and Transport Institute (IMT) and Social Security do not accept the official document
