Opinion: Trump has no idea how to end the war with Iran

In September 1996, I visited Tehran for the first time. I stayed in the Hotel Homawhich was previously Sheraton. At that time, I wrote that above the hall door there was a sign that said: Down with USA (Down with the United States): Wow, that’s not graffiti! That is firmly attached. That won’t fall off easily.

The last years of the 1990s were a moment fleeting opening in Iranwhich was when I got the visa. He hoped that the evident quest of many young Iranians to join the global economy would ultimately triumph over their leaders, who had posted those words on the wall. That didn’t happen. The words were too ingrained.
