Bam Adebayo scores 83 points in a single game and achieves the second best record of all time in the NBA

83 points in a single basketball game. This was Bam Adebayo’s historic record in the early hours of Wednesday, March 11, in the Miami Heat’s 150-129 victory over the Washington Wizards, in an NBA regular season game.

The 29-year-old American center achieved the second best record of all time in the United States professional league, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81. The single-game record remains Wilt Chamberlain’s unattainable 100-point mark on March 2, 1962, in the Philadelphia Warriors’ 169-147 victory over the New York Knicks.

Son of a Nigerian father and an African-American mother, Bam Adebayo was born in Newark, New Jersey, he arrived in the NBA as the 14th pick in the 2017 draft, having been signed by the Miami Heat, where he has spent his career, which earned him three appearances in the All Star Game and on the US national team, which won gold medals at the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.

Adebayo’s achievement is something unexpected because, after all, his personal record until today was 41 points and this morning he achieved more than double that. “Did something happen tonight?” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said upon arriving at the postgame press conference.
