Twelve districts on the continent are this Tuesday, March 10, under yellow warning due to the forecast of sea unrest and snowfall, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco were under yellow warning until 3am, due to snowfall above 1400 meters of altitude.
In a statement, IPMA warns that the fall and accumulation of snow and the possible formation of ice can cause disturbances, such as restricted or closed roads, damage to structures or trees, and impaired local supplies.
Until 6 am, the districts of Aveiro, Porto and Braga were under yellow warning due to maritime unrest.
With the same warning and also due to maritime unrest are the districts of Coimbra (until 9am), Leiria (until 12pm), Lisbon (until 1pm), Faro, Beja and Setúbal (until 3pm).
The institute predicts the occurrence of waves from the northwest, between four and 4.5 meters high.
The yellow warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
The IPMA predicts for today on the continent, showers, especially in the Center and South, which will be snow in the highlands, as well as ice formation and a drop in the minimum temperature and a rise in the maximum.
Minimum temperatures will range between 1 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 10 (in Faro) and maximum temperatures between 9 (in Guarda) and 17 (in Braga).
