The Portuguese Government is carrying out another operation to repatriate citizens from the Middle East, in a mission coordinated between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) and the Ministry of National Defense. The operation involves a C-130H aircraft from the Portuguese Air Force.
On this flight, 61 passengers are repatriated, including 54 Portuguese citizens and seven foreign citizens, coming from Canada, the United Kingdom and South Korea. The mission aims to guarantee the safe evacuation of people who were in the region, in a context of instability.
According to a statement from the Air Force, the plane is scheduled to arrive in the early hours of Monday, around 5:30 am, at Transit Aerodrome No. 1, in Figo Maduro, Lisbon.
The Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa, must be present at the location to receive the repatriated citizens.
According to the official statement, the mission and the respective security plan were requested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Ministry of National Defense, which mobilized Air Force resources to carry out the operation.
