Trump assures Latin American leaders that he is not going to learn “their damn language” and Hegseth declares: “I only speak American”

The Republican president made these statements during a summit in Miami with right-wing presidents of the region. Among them, that of Argentina, Javier Milei, and that of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele.

Likewise, he stated that there is little point in having a good performance in negotiations with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, or his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, if the interpreter is not good.

Those attending the summit are the presidents of Argentina, Javier Milei; Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz; Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves; Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader; Ecuador, Daniel Noboa; El Salvador, Nayib Bukele; Guyana, Irfaan Ali; Honduras, Nasry Asfura; Panama, José Raúl Mulino; Paraguay, Santiago Peña and Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Also present is the elected president of Chile, the far-right leader José Antonio Kast, who will take office next Wednesday.
