The president of Iran refused this Saturday, March 7, the request for unconditional surrender made by US President Donald Trump, considering it a “dream that they should take to the grave”, but apologized to neighboring countries for the attacks in recent days, guaranteeing that he would suspend these attacks.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Iran has carried out attacks on infrastructure in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in some cases causing civilian damage.
In a message broadcast on state television, the Iranian head of state apologized for the attacks on non-military targets in countries in the region, suggesting that they were caused by communication failures, and responded to Trump’s call for surrender: “This is a “dream that they must take to the grave”, said Masoud Pezeshkian.
At the same time, through the Tasnin news agency, Iranian authorities said they attacked an oil tanker in the Persian Gulf on the eighth day of the war with Israel and the United States.
“This morning, the oil tanker called Prima was hit by an explosive drone, after having ignored repeated warnings from the Revolutionary Guards army about the traffic ban and the insecurity of the Strait of Hormuz,” the Revolutionary Guards said in a statement.
On the US side, President Donald Trump approved new arms sales to Israel and warned of new, more intense bombings.
In response, Iran’s ambassador to the UN said the country would “take all necessary measures” to defend itself.
Video from the Associated Press news agency showed explosions and smoke rising over western Tehran, as Israel claimed to have launched a broad wave of attacks.
Also today, loud bangs were heard in Jerusalem and the missiles launched by Iran led people to head to anti-aircraft shelters throughout Israeli territory.
The US and Israel attacked Iran with bombings, targeting its military capabilities, leadership and nuclear program.
The objectives and deadlines invoked for the war have repeatedly changed, as the US has at times suggested that it intends to overthrow Iran’s government or establish new internal leadership.
