WASHINGTON.- El US President Donald Trumpannounced that Kristi Noem will leave the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) next March 31, 2026.
The announcement was made through the Truth Social social network. There, the US president explained that Kristi Noem will assume a new responsibility as special envoy for the Shield of the Americasa hemispheric security initiative that his administration will officially present in Doral, Florida.
With this decision, the Trump government reorganizes one of the key positions in its security strategy and immigration policy, a central issue on its political agenda.
Trump announces change at the Department of Homeland Security
The president pointed out that the Senator from Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullinwill take over ownership of DHS starting at the end of March.
