Hugo Martins of course: “Salsa Jeans’ entry into Iraq took place before the conflict and is part of an expansion plan in the region that was already defined and has been developed with our local partner”. The CEO of Salsa Jeans also highlights that the company is “closely monitoring the evolution of the situation in the Middle East and all decisions are taken taking into account people’s safety as a priority”. The person responsible guarantees that they are “closely monitoring the situation and following the instructions of local authorities.”
The executive’s statement comes after the announcement that Salsa Jeans opened its first store in Iraq, reinforcing its presence in the Middle East and consolidating the brand’s internationalization strategy. The new space, located in the Mall of Iraq, was opened in Baghdad, the capital of that country.
This has, in fact, been the strategy of the brand created by the hands of the Vilanova brothers, and later acquired by the Sonae group, when it enters regions outside of Portugal: position Salsa in urban centers with growth potential and economically dynamic.
The new space has an area of more than 100 square meters and offers the full range of clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women, Salsa highlights in a statement.
As is the case in several other locations, entry into that market was made through the franchise regime, in partnership with the Azadea group, with whom Salsa has already opened operations in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Jordan.
The current conflict scenario, initiated by the US and Israel attack on Iran on February 28th, should keep Salsa officials on permanent alert about activity in the region.
