The PSP Lisbon Metropolitan Command and the Judiciary Police (PJ) are carrying out a special crime prevention operation in the Cova da Moura neighborhood, in the municipality of Amadora, in the district of Lisbon, this Wednesday morning, March 4th.
In a statement, the PSP Lisbon Metropolitan Command said that the joint operation takes place within the scope of a Special Criminal Prevention Operation promoted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and within the scope of ongoing investigations related to recent criminal incidents recorded in the municipality of Amadora.
At issue are “attempted and completed homicide crimes, offenses against physical integrity and other incidents involving the use of firearms, most of which occurred in that particularly critical area and in its surroundings”, according to the note.
The operation aims to execute home and non-domestic search warrants, as well as collecting evidence and identifying people directly or indirectly associated with the facts under investigation.
According to the note, the operation aims to prevent new episodes of armed violence, interrupt criminal dynamics associated with conflicts between groups and reinforce the feeling of security of the resident population.
This operation also counts on the collaboration of the Special Police Unit, namely with the support of the Operational Subunits Special Operations Group and Intervention Corps.
