The victims are, according to a statement from the PJ, two girls who are currently 13 and 14 years old and are “daughters of the suspect, with whom the man lived.”

The events would have occurred since April 2025 in the house where the family lives, precisely in Montemor-o-Novo. “Following the investigation carried out by the PJ’s Évora Local Criminal Investigation Unit, originating from a complaint made by the school, it was possible to gather evidence that indicates that the man had sexually abused his eldest stepdaughter, at the time of the events aged 13, also seeking to entice the youngest into the same type of practices”, says the statement.

The same note states that “the abuses would have occurred regularly and repeatedly, with the connivance of the minors’ mother, with the suspect also recording images of the acts committed.”

In this sense, the two suspects will be presented to a judge for the first judicial interrogation, as well as the application of corresponding coercive measures.
