75-year-old woman dies after being run over on Rua da Graça, in Lisbon

A 75-year-old woman died this Tuesday, March 3, after being run over on Rua da Graça, in Lisbon, having succumbed to her injuries.

According to an INEM source cited by Lusa, the death was declared at the scene, after the alert was given at 12:23 pm. An emergency vehicle from São José Hospital, an INEM ambulance and a team of psychologists were called to the scene.

André Bevetti, president of the Parish Council of Graça, told Lusa that the woman was run over while crossing the pedestrian crossing to Largo da Graça, explaining that the street in question has narrow sidewalks and is crossed by the tram, registering “a lot of road traffic, especially crossing, of people moving between Santa Maria Maior and Avenida Almirante Reis”, which he said does not make sense in the historic center of Lisbon, “with elderly people, who often have mobility problems”.
