Four people died and two were missing this Tuesday after a walkway collapsed on a beach in the Spanish city of Santanderin the north, reported the national maritime rescue service.
“In search of 2 missing people after people fell into the water from a walkway in El Bocal (Santander). 4 deceased have been recovered” and one person was rescued, Salvamento Marítimo reported in a message on the social network X.
Maritime and air units, police and firefighters participate in the rescue operation.

The victims were walking “along a wooden walkway that joined two small cliffs and that walkway has collapsed,” the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, explained to the press.
It was “a group of seven young people who came to enjoy nature” and “they encountered this accident,” added the mayor, specifying that the rescued person was suffering from “apparent hypothermia” and is hospitalized.
“A great misfortune, because it is a group of seven young people who came to enjoy nature,” lamented Igual.
