Hamas condemned the “heinous crime” of the attack that killed the ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86 years old, Iranian supreme guide and supporter of the Palestinian Islamist movement, while Hezbollah promised to confront Israeli and American aggression.
“We, within Hamas, regret the disappearance of ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The United States and the fascist occupation government [Israel] assume full responsibility for this blatant aggression and this heinous crime against the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iranas well as its serious repercussions on the security and stability of the region”, indicates a statement from the movement.
Hamas, condemning the “treacherous and brutal Zionist-American aggression”, called for “urgent measures” to be taken at the international level to put an end to the “crimes” of the United States and Israel in the region.
Or armed group Islamic Jihad, an ally of Hamas during the two-year war with Israel in the Gaza Strip, classified Ali Khamenei’s death as a “war crime” committed by the United States and Israel in a “treacherous and malicious attack”.
Hezbollah has guaranteed that it will “confront American and Israeli aggression” against Khamenei, said Naim Qassem, leader of the Lebanese pro-Iranian movement, in a statement.
“We will fulfill our duty by facing aggression,” assured the head of Hezbollah in the statement, adding: “whatever the sacrifices, we will not abandon […] the field of resistance.”
Hezbollah had not yet responded since the start of the vast US and Israeli offensive against Iran.
The Huthis, in power in Yemen and allies of Hamas, also lamented the “assassination” of Khamenei, a political and religious figure they classified as a martyr and whose legacy, they stated, will inspire “continuous resistance against the United States and Israel”.
“With deep regret and pain, the Supreme Political Council received the news of the martyrdom of the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. He waged a long jihad struggle [guerra santa] against the enemies of the Islamic nation, the Zionists and the Americans, and concluded his life with martyrdom at the hands of the enemies of God and killers of prophets”, declared the Supreme Political Council of the Huthis.
The Huthis described the attack as an “atrocious crime” and a “flagrant violation of all international laws and norms.”
“This represents the continuation of unjust aggression against the Islamic nation and its holy places. At the same time, it affirms that the blood of the martyrs will not be in vain and that the revolutionary will embodied by the martyr will continue to be a flame that will guide the nation. Ali Khamenei’s martyrdom will increase the strength and resolve of the Iranian peopleand the path of jihad and the defense of truth will continue without retreat”, they added.
