Three US soldiers die and five others are injured in the operation against Iran

WASHINGTON.- At least three US soldiers have died and others five have been seriously injured during the Operation “Epic Fury”launched to end the Iranian regime, reported this Sunday the United States Army Central Command (Centcom).

In a statement, Centcom did not offer details about how the deaths occurred or specify the location, after Iran attacked several US bases in Middle East in retaliation for the joint US-Israeli attack in which supreme leader diedhe Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to the Army, as of 9:30 a.m. Washington (14:30 GMT) “three American soldiers have been killed in action and five have been seriously wounded as part of Operation ‘Epic Fury’.”

“Several others suffered minor shrapnel injuries and concussions and are in the process of returning to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing,” he added.

Centcom explained that, out of respect for the families, it will not reveal the identities of the victims until 24 hours have passed since notification to their loved ones.

Joint Israel – US bombings

The joint bombings by Israel and the United States against Iran began on Saturday, when the ayatollah died along with a good part of the Iranian military leadership, and have continued this Sunday with several waves of attacks on Tehran.

Iran has vowed to avenge Khamenei’s death and has so far attacked United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, inter alia Washington’s allies where the North American power maintains military bases.

Donald Trump, who is in his private residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, announced early Saturday morning the launch of this operation, whose objective is to overthrow the Iranian regime, despite the fact that Washington and Tehran were holding negotiations for a new nuclear pact.

War without authorization from Congress

The US president, who campaigned in 2024 on a promise to keep the United States away from foreign wars, acknowledged in his announcement that there could be casualties of “brave American heroes.”

The democratic opposition denounces not having been previously informed of the attack and accuses the Government of having initiated a covert war without congressional authorizationthe body that has the power to approve a war intervention abroad.
