The company also announced the reconfiguration of its traditional routes through Bab El Mandeb and the Suez Canalprioritizing the safety of its crew. Specifically, all services ME11 (Middle East-India to the Mediterranean) and MECL (Middle East-India to the East Coast of the United States) will detour around the Cape of Good Hope.
According to Maersk, once the security situation stabilizes and allows it, it will continue to prioritize the Trans‑Suez routeconsidered the fastest, most sustainable and most efficient way to connect Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the East Coast of the United States.

For its part, MSC also suspended its operations in the Strait of Hormuz. The company assured that it will closely monitor the evolution of the situation and will collaborate with the competent authorities, and that reservations will resume once security conditions allow it.
