Shah’s son says he is ready to lead the transition and calls on regime leaders to hand themselves over

The shah’s son says he is ready to lead the country’s democratic transition and called on the regime’s leaders to surrender. “Surrender to the Iranian people. Declare your loyalty to my program and the transitional system. And hand over the government without further bloodshed”, he urged in X. Hours earlier, in a text published by The Washington PostReza Pahlavi guarantees that “Iran is not Iraq” and that the mistakes made in the neighboring state will not be repeated.

In the video message posted on Elon Musk’s network, Pahlavi said that “any attempt by the remnants of the regime to name a successor to Khamenei has already failed.” This is because, in his view, “whoever they put in his place will not only lack legitimacy, but will also be complicit in the regime’s crimes.” He encouraged the Iranian people to add their voice tonight with a slogan, to demonstrate their satisfaction with the attack on the regime on the one hand, and for each one to “shout their demands for the future of Iran”.

In another message also on X, Pahlavi had described the Israeli and US bombings as a “humanitarian intervention”, aimed at the “Islamic republic, its repressive apparatus and its killing machine”..

Pahlavi, 65, has gained visibility in recent months, since the 12-day war last June, but especially when large protests began at the end of December. Caught by the Islamic revolution of 1979 studying in the United States, he remained in exile there. The rejection of the monarchy, materialized in the hatred of SAVAK, the secret police that brutally repressed dissidents for years, made the idea of the shah’s restitution seem like a pipe dream. But the fragmentation of opposition to theocracy and the work of Reza Pahlavi for months could work in his favor.

In January, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s son revealed that he had prepared a plan called the Iran Prosperity Project. It is, in practice, a network made up of more than a hundred experts from their country in economics, law, energy, governance, public health and infrastructure, who have designed detailed plans for “an orderly transition that preserves essential services, stabilizes the economy and restores confidence in the country and abroad”.

A plan that is supported by the current officials of the Iranian administration, so that it does not happen as in Iraq with the fall of Saddam Hussein, with the persecution of the State apparatus that was made up of elements of the Baath party. Indeed, The pretender to the throne says he and his team launched a program in which regime officials can signal their willingness to defect, through a secure platform. Pahlavi says they have received “tens of thousands” of messages.

In the text published this Saturday, Pahlavi states that he is “impressed by the courage” of those who on the streets asked him to lead the transition. “I have responded to your call. Our path forward will be transparent: a new constitution drafted and ratified by referendum, followed by free elections under international supervision. When Iranians vote, the transitional government will be dissolved”, he pledges.

Pahlavi guarantees a place for all those who agree with the separation of state and religion, equality and civil freedoms, territorial integrity and the right of the people to democratically decide the form of government.

He further said that the plan, a “detailed roadmap for national recovery, including the first 100 days after regime collapse and long-term reconstruction and stabilization”, is “supported by many business leaders around the world”.

“Iran is not Iraq. We will not repeat the mistakes that followed that conflict. There will be no dissolution of institutions, no power vacuum, no chaos”he assures.

Until recently, Pahlavi was not a fan of external intervention. I told him site Politicohaving maintained that he expected the fall of the regime due to a combination of internal fractures and popular pressure due to growing economic dissatisfaction in combination with the waves of repression that hit those who demonstrated for women’s rights after the death of the young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini.

While he met “several times” with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whom he only praises, and with envoy Steve Witkoff, according to the website AxiosPresident Donald Trump did not receive it. According to what Axios reported, the US administration was surprised by Pahlavi’s popularity on the streets of Iran, taking into account the chants heard in the demonstrations that shook the regime during January.

In the text of PostPahlavi also said that, “even with the help of the US and Israel, the final victory will be won by the Iranian people”, because these “are the soldiers on the ground”.

Friendship with USA and Israel

For the crown prince, “a free Iran will, after decades, resume its former cordial relations with the United States. The rebirth of our nation will usher in an era of peace and prosperity, with energy reserves, an educated and entrepreneurial population and a geography that makes it a natural center of regional trade.”

But not only that: “I would prolong this advance by immediately recognizing Israel and pursuing a broader framework of regional peace that binds Iran, Israel and our Arab neighbors in cooperation rather than conflict,” having proposed that this be called the Cyrus Accords in honor of Cyrus the Great.
