Even before the final whistle of the first half, the home team almost expanded: after a corner on the left side, the ball fell to Oscar Bobb, who passed it to central Calvin Bassey, on the edge of the small area, to finish over the goal defended by Vicario.
In the first ten minutes of the second half, Fulham’s attack continued to give the Spurs defense a hard time. At 54, after a good plot between Sessegnon and Bobb on the left side, the ball went to Jímenez who, blocked by Van de Ven, narrowly avoided expanding. At 62, Smith Rowe, facing Vicario, saw the Italian make a great save.
When Spurs first arrived in the second half, Richarlison took advantage of Gray’s cross to reduce it. The goal gave a new boost of energy to the visiting fans, but did not translate into more inspiration for the team on the field. Igor Tudor’s men remained apathetic and it was Fulham, with Cairney and Rodrigo Muniz, who came closest to the third goal.
The visitors still showed some reaction until the final whistle, with Kolo Muani, but it wasn’t enough. Under the eyes of 27,439 spectators, Fulham gave further proof that they are on their way to another safe campaign in the Premier League under the command of Marco Silva, reaching ninth place, with 40 points.
Tottenham, who have not yet won under the command of Igor Tudor, remain in 16th place, with 29, just four ahead of West Ham, first placed in the Premier League relegation zone.
