Google update: Easily delete your data, from your passport to your driver’s license

After a small and necessary modification on the front page, Google has expand the options for deleting personal data users in the «Results above you» function.

This feature, available in Spain from the end of 2024, allows users eliminate reasonable search results to a telephone number, e-mail or housing administration.

New updates include the ability to delete data as Carné de conducir, el pasaporte and social security number.

Google may make this announcement on its blog, and you can access this tool through the Google app by selecting your user account and location “Results Above You”.

The first page asks us to join our name so Google can track the information we want to protect.

Recently, there is the possibility of receiving documents such as identity document, social security number or meat from the ride.

It is possible to select the identification data that we want to be monitored by Google and we’re on the lookout if we find them in search results.

You can then add other previously available data, such as residential address, telephone number or electronic number.

Once all data is confirmed, Google It will automatically track the search results and notifies users if personal data is detected in them.

Google makes it clear that deleting this information from the search engine does not completely erase the Internet, but helps preserve the privacy of the information.

This «Results above you» implementation is currently implemented in the United States of America with plans to expand to other regions in the future.

Deleting explicit images without consent

The request to delete images is new explicit without consent in the Google search engine.

To request deletion, simply click on the three dots on the image, select “delete result” and then select “Show sexual image of me”.
