Bride with cystic fibrosis goes viral: she dances while undergoing treatment at her wedding (VIDEO)

A bride who was filmed dancing at her wedding reception while receiving treatment for cystic fibrosis has gone viral.

“Cystic fibrosis doesn’t stop any party,” was the phrase Dannika Evans shared when posting the video on her TikTok account, while doing her best to dance with a special swing vest and a nebulizer between her teeth.

Dannika, 20, married her fiancé Bo Evans, 23, last June in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Although 20 years may seem young today, cystic fibrosis has the effect of changing the perception of time among patients, especially in terms of how much time they have left.

Parents of children born with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that makes the patient extremely susceptible to lung infections, are often warned not to become too attached to them. Mortality from the disease is high among children, but many, like Dannika, survive to adulthood.

In Dannika’s case, her twice-daily treatment includes a nebulizer and a high-frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO) vest to help open her lungs, which can often become clogged with thick mucus-like secretions.

The bride-to-be had her treatment combo the morning of the wedding, and was hoping she might have to do it during the reception that night.

“Knowing that I had to do treatments on the night of my wedding, doing them on the dance floor with all my loved ones around seemed like the best option,” Dannika told PEOPLE magazine. “While the energy was high, we had a great time dancing the night away while I was shaking it!”

The video of her dancing racked up 2.2 million views and thousands of positive comments praising her bravery and attitude.

“As a CF patient myself, I find great joy in seeing other people with CF sharing the happy parts of their lives,” one comment reads.

INSPIRING WEDDING SAGAS:

  • Bride’s wedding venue burns down only for her big day to rise from the ashes, ‘It took a village’
  • When a tornado interrupts a wedding, they have their first dance in a basement shelter: ‘It restored my faith in humanity’
  • ‘Miracle drug’ makes young woman run, dance and swim again despite cystic fibrosis

“Most of the comments are from ‘CFers’, respiratory therapists or parents of CF patients,” Dannika said.

«Knowing that I can reach people like me gives me hope to continue publishing my life journey with FC. I hope it gives people a new perspective on the disease. Cystic fibrosis can take away, take away, take away, but you can fight back! With joy, patience and doing EVERYTHING you can to stay as healthy as possible.

It seems to be the predominant attitude of those who survive childhood, with ‘CFers’ frequently incorporating truly impressive fitness and wellness regimes into their lives and remaining rigorously disciplined to them.
