Although Parque Tejo, in Lisbon, will only host Rock in Rio 2026 in June, the festival symbolically began this week in London. On the afternoon of last Thursday, February 26th, King’s Cross station in the English capital was the stage for the first action of the international campaign “Road to Rock in Rio”, which brought music, interaction with the public and a main message: reinforcing the global dimension of the event and attracting more foreign visitors to the capital of São Paulo.
“Rock in Rio Lisboa is going through a very special moment. We received a great gift by moving house, which opened up new possibilities: bigger stages, a more robust musical offering, new experiences. Now, what we want is to consolidate Lisbon as an even stronger destination within our ecosystem”, said Roberta Medina, executive vice-president of the festival, to DN.
The activation brought together, in addition to members of the organization, curious people who walked around the station and fans who approached the sound of a DJ set with hits of artists already confirmed for the next edition, such as Katy Perry, Rod Stewart and Linkin Park. In the center of the space, a mural invited participants to leave messages and aspirations linked to the festival – contributions that will integrate the scenography of Palco Mundo, in Lisbon.
