Patrícia Sampaio suffered a rupture of the internal lateral ligament in her left knee during the Olympic Training Camp held in Paris, after participating in the judo Grand Slam, injury that will force her to stop competing for several months and miss the European Championship, where she will not be able to defend the title won in 2025in the -78 kg category. The return to competition is scheduled for the third quarter, after the completion of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation process.
The information was released by the Sociedade Filarmônica Gualdim Pais, the athlete’s club, which confirmed the diagnosis and the recovery plan already defined to allow the progressive return to training and international competition.
Born in Tomar, the judoka competes in the -78 kg category and is part of the world elite in the sporthaving won the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Throughout his career he has accumulated outstanding results on the international circuit.
In the 2025 season, they became European champions in Podgorica, won the bronze medal at the World Championships of Budapest and reached the silver medal at the Tokyo Grand Slam.
