Less than two days after the operation against the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in which its leader, Nemesio Oseguera, lost his life “El Mencho” and its logistics operator, Hugo N. “El Tuli”, which was led by elements of the Mexican Army with the collaboration of intelligence from the United States, the US ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, arrived at the National Palace around 1:00 p.m.; Sara Carter arrived minutes before.
“In Mexico with @USAmbMex watching @POTUS #SOTU2026 Under the direction of President Trump, we work day and night to ensure the security of our nation while we work with our Mexican counterparts to eliminate cartels and illegal drug trafficking,” he posted Carter with a photograph where he is seen next to the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson in the murals of the National Palace, but in which the president is not there, Claudia Sheinbaum.

The secretaries of National Defense also arrived at the meeting, Ricardo Trevilla; of Marina, Raymundo Pedro Morales; of security, Omar García Harfuch and the Attorney General of the Republic, Ernestina Godoy.
This Monday, the American diplomat recognized “the bravery and quick action of the Mexican authorities before, during and after the operation against the CJNG”.
In a message published on his social networks, Johnson considered the operation “a hard blow to one of the most violent criminal organizations that harm our communities.

“The Mexican people can be proud of the determination demonstrated by their security forces. We must maintain that same determination. Criminals will be held accountable. Justice will prevail. The United States firmly supports Mexico as a sovereign partner,” said the diplomat.
