The WhatsApp revolution: Chat with other apps from the same app in Spain: Learn how in 5 steps

For 2024, I propose a radical and previous change to WhatsApp: full interoperability between messaging appsthanks to an external chat service.

This system, which will start to be implemented at the end of 2025, is currently being implemented in Spain. Spanish WhatsApp users can now activate sending and receiving messages from other apps.

When configuring this system, a list of compatible applications will appear, which is sufficient for now. Additionally, users can control how these messages are displayed in the app.

WhatsApp implements third messages

WhatsApp has launched a support document for this new feature. However, they made it clear that this implementation is implemented in response to “legislative changes in Europe”he specifically referred to the European Digital Market Act (DMA).

The legislation stipulates that applications and services must be transferred to a group of limited directors in order to continue to operate in Europe, including interoperability with other messaging applications.

Thanks to this current law, WhatsApp now allows its users to communicate with users of third-party applications. Applications integrated with WhatsApp can be configured by users who will have complete freedom of choice.

Individual messages will be enabled within the user’s WhatsApp account and users of compatible third-party catering services. For now, the only app on this list is BirdyChat.

BirdyChat is the first app that allows your users to send messages to WhatsApp users without having this latest version installed on their devices.

And that’s what’s great about this method Don’t worry the second app has been installed. A WhatsApp user can receive messages from BirdyChat without having the app on their mobile, and vice versa.

WhatsApp has indicated that this feature will have some limitations. Some of the main features of WhatsApp, such as temporary messages or stickers, They will not be available in third-party app chats.

These chats will only be available on WhatsApp for Android and iOS and only if the phone number is shared with the other party. The profile photo will not be displayed in the title and the functions of these other applications will not be managed.

From there, users will be able to send messages as always, including documents, voice messages, videos and photos. You can also vote between combined or separate input lane and adjust the quality of multimedia archives or push notifications.

When you log in to WhatsApp, you will see a message banner which will offer you the option to configure this system. It will only be necessary to select third-party applications to activate, select the input band y list.

To activate it manually, just go to Settings, then Settings, and finally the “Third Party Chat” section. Then touch the activation button and perform all the necessary steps.

If you opt for a combined entry band, these chats will appear mixed with conventional chats. If you prefer a separate zone, you can access your dedicated badge in third-party chats.

To start a chat with a user in a third-party application, simply click the New Chat button and select third-party chats. However, it will be necessary to know the recipient’s ID.

Chat notifications from third parties are an important aspect. If you have not activated these chats, we will be able to receive requests from other users from other applications using our number.

Unfortunately, this can be disabled. In the Settings section, go to Account and then Third Party Chats to finally go to Third Party Chat Policies and disable them all.
