The French president did now accept his resignation, which showed how an “act of responsibility” when the museum needs “calm and a new impulse strong to carry out major security and modernization projects,” the French presidency said in a statement.
Macron “thanked him for his work and commitment in recent years” and entrusted him with a mission within the framework of the French presidency of the G7 “on cooperation between the large museums of the countries involved,” the note adds.
