The exposition of the large relief leads us to an intensive reconstruction of the echoes of the Movida movement, which arose in Madrid in the years of transition from the post-Franco era to democracy, and which was desperate in the themes of representation and questions about experiences in the art world a new and essential dimension for later painting.
With one This is an excellent shopping cart designed by Mariano Navarroand in continuous dialogue with Guillermo de Osma, the museum contains 94 works by 44 artists through which we could travel through time and appreciate the great artistic value of Spain at that time.
The exhibition is divided into two partspresented with a time pause. At the beginning of Part I we encounter three sections: “70s and 80s”, “Mythology” and “Fauna and Flora”. Next, in Part II (April 20 – June 26), there will be four: “What was called ‘la Movida’, “De la irreverencia como una de las beautiful arts”, “Return to Eden” and the new “Fauna and Flora”, which will be preserved in two temporal presentations. Our section names will give you a good conceptual idea of where the route is located.
“Los 70 en los 80” abre conjunto de three plural works by Luis Gordillodated 1978 and 1980, produced with collage and using the technique of transforming colors into what is one Portrait of Luis Gordillo (1974), Carlos Franco, made with acrylic and collage above lienzo. The section includes works by Manolo Quejido, Rafael Pérez Mínguez, Carlos Alcolea, Herminio Molero, Alfonso Albacete, Chemo Cobo and María Luisa Sanz. In them, we encounter mixed techniques, collages, acrylic and also oil on canvas.
“Mythologies” is a collection of visual works by Chemo Cobo, Guillermo Pérez Villalta, Sigfrid Martín Begué, Carlos Franco, Jaime Aledo, Manolo Quejido, Belén Franco, Concha Gómez Acebo, Miguel Ángel Campan and Virginia Lasheras as we see them compare different mythological themes with real human dimensions and various figurative techniques.

With “Fauna and Flora” we will be introduced to a wide and intense register of photography’s representation of popular or everyday figures through the works of Pablo Pérez Mínguez, Alberto García-Alix, Luis Baylón, Miguel Trillo, Javier Campano, Antonio Zafra, Rafa Cervera, Eduardo Momeño, Jaime Gorospe, Gatti Leele and Juan Ouk Leele.
“What Happened to Be Called ‘La Movida'” features prints on paper, illustrations on paper and canvas, painting and photography. Intense colors, dynamism and allusions prevail in Madrid in the era of Movid. Here are the artists: Pablo Sycet, Diego Lara, El Hortelano, Ceesepe, Javier de Juan, Ouka Leele and Ciuco Gutiérrez.
“Irreverence as one of the fine arts” is a synthesis of questionatiamientos traditional, mythological and religious themes with images and illustrations, photographs and two small resin sculptures. In this case, the creators are: Javier Utray, Costus, Pablo Pérez Mínguez, Patricia Gadea, Juan Ugalde, César Fernández Arias and Javier Maldonado.
And in the last section: “Return to Eden” we find ourselves in front of a series of paintings with intense colors and great expressiveness that enhance new dimensions of specifically human peace and rest as a new realm of fulfillment and happiness. The combined songs are by Concha Gómez Acebo, Carlos Forns Bada, Dis Berlin, Ana García Pan, Juan Antonio Aguirre, Manolo Quejido and Belén Franco.

It is clear through your names that the talent and quality of the reunited artists is impressiveand also that we have an index that allows us to appreciate the intensity and diversity of this period of contemporary art in Spain, which is not always appreciated as necessary. Something very significant and something that should not be forgotten.
