Photographic Exhibition ‘Portraits of Difficult Days 24/7’ Highlights Informal Caregivers

Right after immersing yourself in this sensitive topic, the viewer is faced with the technical rigor of those who captured these images: Nuno Pinto Fernandes. The author, who is now dedicated to this social project, brings with him the seal of quality of a prestigious career in national journalism, having been, for many years, photographer for Diário de Notícias. His vast experience in reference publications, such as Diário de Notícias and News Journalallowed him to transfer the emotional charge and dignity of the simplest gestures of assistance to photography.

A tribute to resilience

The exhibition was developed in collaboration with the Biopsychosocial Care Team for the Elderly of the Municipality of Alfândega da Fé. The central objective is to value and give a voice to the municipality’s informal caregivers, whose stories, although universal, rarely leave the privacy of the home.

According to the organization, through the lens of Pinto Fernandes, the aim is to “expose, recognize and dignify these gestures of care and dedication”, creating a space where the community can reflect on the vital role that these men and women play with their families.

Opening and Visits

The opening session of the exhibition will have a musical moment by the cavaquinhos group “Sweet Honey”symbolizing the community’s support for this cause.

Portraits of Hard Days 24/7 will be on display at Galeria Manuel Cunha until the day May 3. It is an invitation to learn about the human side of permanent assistance and to recognize the value of those who selflessly dedicate their lives to caring for others.
