Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa discusses PTRR with Prime Minister for post-storm recovery

This Tuesday, the elected President of the Republic, António José Seguro, who will take office on March 9, will receive the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, at the National Palace of Queluz, for a formal presentation of greetings and also the PTRR program, at 4pm.

On Thursday, in the fortnightly debate in the Assembly of the Republic, the Prime Minister expressed his intention to involve political parties, the current President of the Republic and his successor, as well as social partners, local authorities, regional governments and academia for “a deeper political development” of the PTRR.

Luís Montenegro said that he intended to present the initial version of the PTRR to the elected President, António José Seguro, during this week, and that he counted on “all parties” with parliamentary representation for its design and approval.

Sixteen people died in Portugal following the passage of depressions Kristin, Leonardo and Marta, which also caused hundreds of injuries and displacement.

The Centre, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and Alentejo regions were the most affected by the storms, which caused the destruction of homes, businesses, equipment and infrastructure, cutting power, water and communications.
