Bad weather bills continue to rise

The last few days have been sunny, but the bad weather that ravaged the country for around three weeks is still causing a lot of work, especially in terms of losses, which continue to have to be calculated, and measures to mitigate impacts, which need to be put into practice.

In telecommunications, Vodafone assured Lusa yesterday that its customers in areas affected by the bad weather will be reimbursed for the amount invoiced through credit from the next invoice. This is because “due to the automation of the company’s billing processes” invoices were issued to some customers who were left without service as a result of Kristin’s depression, “which was not possible to interrupt in a timely manner”, said the operator’s official source.

In Education, the Government announced that it will review the school network in the areas most affected by the storm, in order, together with city halls, to recompose the school supply instead of temporary solutions.

Also yesterday, the Chamber of Abrantes estimated that the damage caused by Kristin, the Tagus floods and the intense and persistent rains of recent weeks already exceed 10 million euros, mainly affecting public infrastructure.

A similar amount in losses – 9.9 million – was estimated by the Rio Maior municipality, most of which related to damage to municipal roads. Further north, Vila do Conde counted four million.
