Chef Michele Marques mixes flavors from Brazil and Portugal in award-winning restaurant

Michele Marques, from Rio de Janeiro, chef at Gadanha Mercearia, in Estremoz, received Um Sol, a distinction granted by Guia Repsol, at the ceremony in Portugal in 2025. The restaurant was one of the five establishments run by Brazilian chefs to be awarded at the event.

This year’s edition will be in Évora, on April 13th. “It’s a huge comfort to receive a hug like that, a loving hug from Um Sol in a restaurant in the interior of the country. It’s recognition of the work of a team that for years has sought to do its best”, says Michele to DN Brasil.

Half Brazil that is always there in the roots, in the stews, in the way, in the snacks and in that swing, in the way of presenting the cuisine with me, but also with the products of the land I chose to live in.”
