José Luís Carneiro says that PTRR “is a plan of intentions” when it should already be one of action

José Luís Carneiro, secretary general of the PS, this Friday, February 20th, labeled the PTRR announced by the prime minister as a plan of intentions, when in reality, it should already be about action in favor of the victims of the storms that devastated the central region.

I’ve heard it called a lot of names, but fundamentally it’s a plan of intentions. The Government should have an action plan to respond to many municipalities that are still outside the disaster declaration and would like to be included in the disaster declaration. There should already be very concrete answers to restore fundamental infrastructures”, stated the socialist leader.

Luís Montenegro announced at the end of the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, which approved this Friday the general lines of the “Portugal Transformation, Recovery and Resilience” (PTRR) program, created by the Government to respond to the effects of bad weather in Portugal which, since January 28, has caused 18 deaths and hundreds of injuries and displacement.

“I want to start by explaining that this is not a closed program for immediate implementation, but a proposal for the country that fits at the beginning of a national debate”, said Luís Montenegro.

Speaking before the meeting with socialist activists and supporters at the headquarters of the PS’s Porto district, José Luís Carneiro, confirmed the prime minister’s invitation to a meeting on Wednesday, and recalled the “70 proposals that the PS presented”.
